The United States Mint has released the official images of the upcoming 2022 American Eagle gold proof coin. The gold Eagle will go on sale next month on March 17th and as with previous years, will be available in a range of fractional sizes.
The 2022 gold proof Eagle will have the Type-2 Reverse design that was introduced last year. The Reverse image was designed by Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) designer Jennie Norris. As has been the case since its introduction, the Obverse will continue to bare an image of Lady Liberty walking carrying a torch and olive branch. This design is modeled after the famous design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
When the proof gold Eagles are released for sale next month, the coin will be available in 1-Ounce, 1/2-Ounce, 1/25th-Ounce and 1/10th-ounce. There will also be a four-coin set which will have the one ounce coin as well as all of the fractional pieces.
The Mint has not released the pricing of these coins or set and will not do so until the release date due the fluctuation in bullion pricing. You can visit the Mint’s product schedule to get more details on the release of the gold proof Eagles and, of course, USCoinNews will have release information the week prior and day of sales beginning.
