The United States Mint has quietly updated its production schedule which indicates that the 2022 National Purple Heart Hall of Honor colorized silver dollar will begin sales later this month. Pre-sales will being on March 24th at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific on the Mint’s website. They will remain available for purchase until April 25th or until the production limit is reached. For this coin, only 25,000 will be available out of a total mintage of 400,00 across all products. A strict household limit of 1 coin will be in place. The Hall of Honor colorized dollar is priced at $95.00 and shipping is expected to occur in early June.
This particular coin will likely sell out within minutes.
The colorized coin will be just the second ever offered by the United States Mint. In 2020, the Mint offered a colorized commemorative honoring the Basketball Hall of Fame. For the Purple Heart colorized commemorative, it will feature the same Reverse design of the standard proof and uncirculated silver dollar. However, the medal on the Reverse will be colored purple, just like the medal itself.
The Purple Heart Hall of Honor commemoratives have been popular products for the Mint and this colorized release will be one of the most sought after by collectors. For those readers who hope to get one, you are strongly encouraged to be on the Mint’s site prior to Noon Eastern on March 24th and have your credit card saved into your Mint account to make the transaction smooth.
