The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic sales report for the seven-day period ending on Sunday, March 13, 2022. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. In this week’s report, the Mint reported sales of 65,620 numismatic products, up by over 43,000 products when compared to last week. The bulk of those sales can be found in the Mint’s newest releases.
Taking the top sales honors for this week was the 2022 American Women Quarter Program Proof Set. The new product, which was launched last week, saw an impressive initial sales of 42,368 sets. When compared to the last Quarter program, the American The Beautiful series, this initial sales number puts this set well ahead of similar products from that series.
In a distant second in the top ten selling products list was another new release by the Mint: The United States Navy 2.5-ounce silver medal. In its first week of availability, the medal saw sales of 9,891 units. The Mint indicated that only 10,000 of the medals would be available overall, making this a near sellout in its first week. Indeed, the Mint’s website is now showing the medal as unavailable. That likely means that all 10,000 have been sold and the Mint is doing reconciliation work internally to confirm all sales are completed.
The popular 2022 National Purple Heart Hall of Honor commemoratives continued to have strong pre-sale figures this past week. Four different products in the series made it into the top ten sales list including the Proof Silver Dollar (2,305 coins sold), the Proof Half Dollar (911), Uncirculated Silver Dollar (644) and the Uncirculated Half Dollar (500).
