The United States Mint has released its Circulating Coin Production Report for August 2022, showing that across the nation’s Mint facilities that 1.01 billion coins were produced for circulation. This is down slightly from the production for the Mint in July 2022. Except for the Lincoln Cent, all circulating coinage production was down month-over-month.
As is normally the case, the Lincoln Cent was the highest produced circulating coin for the United States Mint in August. 509 million Cents were Minted across the Denver and Philadelphia Mint facilities. Normally, production across these two facilities are on par with each other. However, in August, the vast majority of Cents were produced in Philadelphia. The Denver Mint produced 169.2 million Cents while the remaining 339.8 million were produced in Philly. With the August production figures considered, the Mint has now produced 4.92 billion Cents for circulation.
Turning to the Jefferson Nickel, the Mint reported that 104.16 million were produced in August. Looking at the breakdown, 39.6 million were produced in Denver with Philadelphia minting 64.56 million. This figure is down from the 144 million that the Mint reported producing in July. For 2022, the Mint has now minted 1.047 billion Nickels for circulation. Meanwhile, the Roosevelt Dime saw a total mintage of 217.5 million in August. Of that 217.5 million, the Denver Mint was responsible for the minting of 83 million with the remaining 134.5 million being minted in Philadelphia.
Finally, the Washington Quarter had a reported production of 180.4 million pieces last month. This is inclusive of all the designs being offered by the Mint. Of that total, 68 million were minted in Denver and 12.4 million in Philadelphia. This production total is down considerably from the 214 million Quarters the Mint pressed in July. For the year, there have now been 1.723 billion Quarters produced for circulation.
There were no Kennedy Half Dollars, Native American Dollars, nor Presidential Dollars produced last month by the Mint according to its report.
For 2022, the Mint has now minted 9,750,020,000 coins for circulation.
