The following is a Press Release from Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) announcing that it will be offering special labels and designations for the upcoming 2022 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set. The 2022 Limited Edition Proof Set will go on sale at the United States Mint starting on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
NGC is offering several special labels for coins in this year’s special eight-coin set. Special submission instructions must be followed. The set must be submitted in the sealed original Mint shipping box to receive the set designation. See the “Submission instructions” section of this article, including instructions to have the original Mint packaging returned.
On October 26, 2022, the US Mint is releasing the last silver set for the year: the 2022-S Limited Edition Silver Proof Set. This year’s silver coin set includes the five 2022 Silver Proof American Women Quarters and has a product limit of just 50,000. Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is celebrating the coins’ release by encapsulating them with an attractive label that pays tribute to the city where they were struck, as well as a special designation of Limited Edition Set.
The eight-piece set features the following .999 fine silver coins:
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Eagle
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Kennedy Half Dollar
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Maya Angelou Quarter
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Dr. Sally Ride Quarter
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Wilma Mankiller Quarter
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Nina Otero-Warren Quarter
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Anna May Wong Quarter
- a 2022-S Proof Silver Roosevelt Dime
The reverse of the Silver Eagle features an eagle with wings spread preparing to land while carrying an oak branch, a design that debuted last year. It was engraved by Michael Gaudioso who signs certification labels exclusively for NGC. Signed labels from this artist are available through select retailers.
For the first time, a complete set of quarters from the new American Women Quarters Program will be a part of this special set. Each reverse features a woman whose legacy helped shape the United States. The quarters recognizing Nina Otero-Warren and Wilma Mankiller were designed by Chris Costello and Benjamin Sowards respectively. Both artists are also part of NGC’s Signature Series program.
