Two-Day CCAC Meeting to Start February 28

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) has announced that it will hold a two-day teleconference meeting. The open meeting will begin on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, with a second meeting on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

The purpose of the meeting is to conduct normal CCAC-related business as part of the committee’s responsibility to advise the Secretary of the Treasure. Further, the agenda is to include four different numismatic topics:

  • Review and discussion of candidate designs for the Willie O’Ree Congressional Gold Medal
  • Review and discussion of candidate designs for the 2024 American Innovation $1 Coin for Missouri
  • Review and discussion of candidate designs for the Liberty and Britannia Gold Coinand Silver Medal
  • Review and discussion of candidate designs for the 2024 American Women Quarters

The teleconference on both February 28 and March 1 will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Eastern. Anyone can attend the conference by dialing (888) 330-1716, access code 1137147. Note that public members are expected to keep their phones muted to not disturb the meeting. The public is invited but in listen-only.

About the CCAC

In accordance with 31 U.S.C. 5135, the CCAC:

  1. Advises the Secretary of the Treasury on any theme or design proposals relating to circulating coinage, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals, and national and other medals.
  2. Advises the Secretary of the Treasury with regards to the events, persons, or places to be commemorated by the issuance of commemorative coins in each of the five calendar years succeeding the year in which a commemorative coin designation is made.
  3. Makes recommendations with respect to the mintage level for any commemorative coin recommended.

The CCAC was established in 2003 by Congress under Public Law 108-15.
