CCAC Releases Design Candidates for The Florida and Texas 2025 American Innovation Dollars

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, or CCAC, met yesterday in Washington, D.C.. Two of the topics on their agenda were the designs for the 2025 Innovation Dollars honoring Florida and Texas. The CCAC has now released the design candidates for each coin, with a final design decision expected this summer.

The American Innovation Dollar coin came about through legislation passed in 2018 and is set to run through 2032. There will be 57 coins released in the program, with the first one released on December 14, 2018. However, that coin was an introductory coin to show the coin off to the public and was never released for circulation. So far, the Mint has released 22 of the planned 57 coins. Collectors can buy the coins directly from the Mint in the form of bags, rolls, and annual Proof and Reverse Proof sets.

The Florida and Texas designs are emblematic of each state’s contribution to the United States Space Program. All of the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle program launches occurred in Florida, while Texas is home to Mission Control for each of those missions. Once a launch clears the launch tower in Florida, Mission Control takes over the flight from that point for the mission’s duration. The Florida designs, in particular, focus on the Space Shuttle Program.
