The United States Mint will begin selling the 2024 American Innovation Proof set later today. The four-coin set will feature the 2024 American Innovation Dollar releases in a single lens. On the Mint’s site, sales will begin at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific. This year, the set is priced at $24, the same price as the 2023 set.
The 2024 set features the following coins:
- Missouri – Celebrating George Washington Carver, whose agricultural innovations revived the South’s economy.
- Illinois – Recognizing John Lane’s steel plow that helped turn the Midwest into America’s breadbasket.
- Alabama – Celebrating the Saturn V rocket that successfully launched the Apollo 11 Moon mission.
- Maine – Home of Dr. Bernard Lown, whose invention of the direct current defibrillator revolutionized cardiac care, saving countless lives.
Introduced in 2018, the American Innovation Dollar will consist of 57 coins. From 2019 through to 2032, four new coins will be release each year. According to the Mint, these coins will be “celebrating innovations and innovators” from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia and five United States Territories: Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Island, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The Obverse for all of these coins will remain the same as the 2018 coins, depicting the Statue of Liberty. The Reverse of each coin will change based on the state or territory it is released for and the innovation it is celebrating.
