First Look! The 2026 Semiquincentennial Enduring Liberty Half Dollar

The United States Mint has released the images of the upcoming Emerging Liberty Half Dollar. Set for release next year as part of the United States’ Semiquincentennial, the stunning Half Dollar features a close-up design of the Statue of Liberty.

The Obverse of the Enduring Liberty Half Dollar was designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by John McGraw of the United States Mint. As the Mint describes the Obverse,

The obverse design shows a close-up view of the Statue of Liberty, her steadfast gaze looking outward as if toward the future. The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1776 ~ 2026.”

For 2026, the Mint does not plan to release the Emerging Liberty Half Dollar into general circulation. It, like the 1776-2026 Lincoln Cent, will only be available in special Mint releases, such as Mint Proof Sets. Equally, there is currently no set release date from the Mint for when the coin will be available for purchase.

The Semiquincentennial coinage will be a one-year release, in 2026, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. You can read more about the program on the Mint’s site.
