The next coin in the American Innovation Dollar series is set to be released later today. The Massachusetts American Innovation Dollar, honoring the invention of the telephone, will go on sale starting at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific. Bags and rolls of the latest dollar coin will be available for purchase directly from the United States Mint.
The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Massachusetts marks the invention of the telephone. On March 7, 1876, Boston resident Alexander Graham Bell spoke these now-famous words into a device he invented to transmit the human voice: “Mr. Watson–come here–I want to see you.” Bell’s assistant Thomas Watson, who was in the next room, received the message and communication was forever changed. Bell was awarded the patent for his telephone, and the impact of his invention continues to be felt worldwide.United States Mint
In all, there will be four products for the Massachusetts American Innovation Dollar available when sales begin next week:
- 25-Coin Roll (Philadelphia) – $34.50
- 25-Coin Roll (Denver) – $34.50
- 100-Coin Bag (Philadelphia) – $117.50
- 100-Coin Bag (Denver) – $117.50
Although the American Innovation Dollar is not released into general circulation it is considered a circulating coin by the United States Mint. Therefore, there are no product production limits on any of these products nor are there household limits. All of these products will remain available through the end of 2020. This year also continues the trend of the Mint producing the American Innovation Dollar late in the year. The AI coins for 2019 were all produced in the final 5 months of the year.
