The United States Mint will open sales of the Massachusetts American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof starting on today. Sales will begin at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific directly on the Mint’s site. The Massachusetts American Innovation Dollar is the second of the 2020 coins in the series to have its Reverse Proof released this year and follows the release of bags and rolls of the coins back in October. The price for the coins will be $11.50.
For those readers who are enrolled in the American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof program, you should have received notification this morning that your order has already been processed.
As has been the case with other Reverse Proof coins in the American Innovation Dollar series, only 50,000 of the coins will be produced and there is a limit of 5 per household. The coin is eligible for the Mint’s Enrollment Program to assure you get yours (although it is too late to sign up for this release)
The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Massachusetts marks the invention of the telephone. On March 7, 1876, Boston resident Alexander Graham Bell spoke these now-famous words into a device he invented to transmit the human voice: “Mr. Watson–come here–I want to see you.” Bell’s assistant Thomas Watson, who was in the next room, received the message and communication was forever changed. Bell was awarded the patent for his telephone, and the impact of his invention continues to be felt worldwide.
