Mint Bullion Sales Report – January 18, 2021

The United States Mint has begun publishing is daily Bullion Sales Report for 2021. As of January 18, 2021, the Mint has already sold 4,675,000 ounces of silver, naming the American Eagle bullion coin.

To put January 18 numbers into perspective, in 2020 in the entire month of January, the Mint sold 3,846,000 American Eagles. With two weeks remaining in January 2021, there is no reason to suggest that sales will top 6 million for the month. For 2020, the Mint sold over 30 million bullion American Eagles, its highest total ever.

As a reminder to collectors new and old, United States Mint bullion coins are sold to Authorized Purchasers and cannot be directly purchased from the Mint itself. The Mint lists these Authorized Purchasers on their site and all of them are already selling the 2021 American Eagle. Last week I posted at APMEX, one of the Authorized Purchasers of the Mint, has already begun selling the 2021 American Eagle.

The Mint’s bullion sales report also points out that 116,000 1-ounce gold American Eagles have been sold this month with 8,500 of the 1/2-ounce bullion coins sold.

The United States Mint updates is bullion sales report each day at 5:00 PM Eastern. USCoinNews.com publishes a weekly summary of the previous week each Monday. You can find the report on the Mint’s site here as it is available to the public.
