NCIC Asks for Help Locating A FedEx Package with Coronet Gold Coins

The Numismatic Crime Information Center (NCIC) is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing FedEx package that contains multiple gold coins. The package was shipped via FedEx from Texas and was on its way to Florida. It’s last known location, according to the shipping company, was the Memphis, TN hub.

The package contained multiple Coronet type gold coins as well as five one ounce gold American Eagles. Here is the rundown of the missing coins along with their PCGS certification numbers:

  • 1904 Coronet Type 3 $20 PCGS MS-63 (40775866)
  • 1904 Coronet Type 3 $20 PCGS MS-63 (40775867)
  • 1904 Coronet Type 3 $20 PCGS MS-63 (40775879)
  • 1904 Coronet Type 3 $20 PCGS MS-63 (40775880)
  • 1904-S Coronet Type 3 $20 NGC MS-63 (32912902)
  • 5 one ounce gold Eagles

Collectors and dealers are asked to be on the look out for these coins as, if they were stolen, the thief could try to get rid of them quickly at a price “too good to be true”. Dealers, coin shop owners, and pawn shop owners in particular are encouraged to be on the look out for one of these rare coins coming into their shop. Given that all of the coins in question have been graded by a grading service, aside from the American Eagles, that should help in identifying and recovering of them with a bit of help and attention from the community.

If you have any information on these coins or see any of them in your shop or online, you can contact Doug Davis at 817-723-7231 or Doug@numismaticcrimes.org with details. You can also contact your local police department who can contact NCIC.
