The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending May 16, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that Mint sold a robust 66,242 products this past week with two of the top three sellers being new products that were introduced during the week.
The top selling product for the Mint for the week of May 16 was the 2021 Kennedy Half Dollar 2-Roll Set. The set had an impressive 17,891 sales in just three days of availability for this report. To put this in perspective, for the 2020 2-roll set, just 24,312 were sold. Coming in a reasonably close second on the top ten selling items list was the new 2021-W American buffalo Proof One-Ounce Gold Coin. 14,254 of the coins were sold last week, with the coin now being on back order until August due to demand. With that sales total, the 2021 variant of the Buffalo has already out sold its 2020 sister, which had a total of 11,887 sales.
The third and fourth top sellers for the Mint last week were the 2021 annual sets. The 2021 Proof Set added another 10,283 sets to its sales total, which now approaches a quarter-of-a-million sold (273,580). Meanwhile, the 2021 Silver Proof Set had another strong week of sales with 6,574 sets sold. Rounding out the top five selling items was the 2021 Kennedy Half Dollar 200-Coin Bag. 1,507 of the bags were sold which contains 100 coins from the Philadelphia Mint and another 100 from Denver.
