The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending September 26, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 66,811 products last week. This is down significantly from previous report but there were no new products released in the report window.
The top selling numismatic item for the Mint last week was the 2021-S American Eagle Silver Proof (Type-2) with another 59,972 coins sold. That puts the total sales for the final single American Eagle coin release of the year at 258,369. This is well over the 200,000 production limit of the coin, suggesting that the Mint has either made more than expected or that approximately 58,369 collectors will have their orders cancelled. Regardless, the Mint’s site is showing the coin as unavailable.
The 2021 Proof Set was the second best seller last week for the Mint. The annual set saw another 4,548 sets sold, putting its total sales at over 350,000 for the year (352,556). Meanwhile, the 2021 Silver Proof Set was the third top seller with 1,4568 sets sold. That puts its sales total for the year at 229,883.
