CCAC Meeting Scheduled for October 19, 2021

The United States Mint has announced that the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. The meeting will be held via teleconference as has been the case for over the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary purpose of the meeting will be the swearing in of the newest CCAC member, Dr. Harcourt Fuller.

Dr. Fuller was announced as a new member of CCAC last week. Dr. Fuller is currently an Associate Professor of African and African Diaspora History in the Department of History at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Fuller has taught at Connecticut College, Florida International University, and Emmanuel College. He was also a Visiting Scholar and Researcher at Boston University.

The other primary piece of business for the meeting will be a review of the 2021 Annual Report for the committee.

The meeting is scheduled to be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Eastern on October 19, 2021. Interested persons can listen in on the meeting by calling (888) 330-1716, access code 1137147. Note that dial-in access is listen only mode and your phone must be kept on mute to not disturb the meeting.

About the CCAC

In accordance with 31 U.S.C. 5135, the CCAC:

  1. Advises the Secretary of the Treasury on any theme or design proposals relating to circulating coinage, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals, and national and other medals.
  2. Advises the Secretary of the Treasury with regards to the events, persons, or places to be commemorated by the issuance of commemorative coins in each of the five calendar years succeeding the year in which a commemorative coin designation is made.
  3. Makes recommendations with respect to the mintage level for any commemorative coin recommended.

The CCAC was established in 2003 by Congress under Public Law 108-15.
