The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending October 10, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 25,543 numismatic products in the last week. This is down significantly from the 216,333 products sold according to last week’s report.
Reclaiming the top selling product position for the past week was the 2021 Proof Set. 9,822 of the annual sets were sold last week, pushing its total sales for 2021 to 369,589. That puts it within 100,000 units of the 2020 Proof Set which sold 465,081 last year. With well over three months left in 2021, it is reasonable to assume it will beat sales from last year.
The second top seller for last week was also the newest product from the United States Mint. The 2021-W American Eagle Gold One Ounce Uncirculated (Type-2) registered sales of 8,938 last week, nearly all of the 9,100 that the Mint was offering. Indeed, the product page for the coin now shows it being out of stock which likely means all of them were sold or the Mint is reconciling sales to assure everyone who ordered one gets one. Meanwhile, the third top seller for the Mint last week was the 2021 Silver Proof Set. The premium set added another 2,649 sets to its sales total, which now sits at 235,798 sets. Like the standard Proof Set, when comparing this year’s silver set to last year, it is now within 100,000 sets of the 2020 sales total of 313,246.
The 2021 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set registered another 1,066 in sales this past week. That puts its sales total according to the Mint at 49,352. The Mint also shows this set as being unavailable on its site. Only 50,000 of these sets were being made available. Rounding out the top five in sales was the 2020 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set with 568 sets sold.
