The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, December 5, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold a solid 482,000 bullion coins in the last week. As reported previously, the Mint has now stopped production of 2021 American Eagle bullion coins and is focusing on 2022. Authorize Purchasers will be making their final orders of 2021 in the next week. Only two of the six American Eagle products were reported to have no sales last week.
Topping sales and accounting for well over 90% of all bullion sales last week was the silver one ounce American Eagle. 448,000 of the coins were reported sold last week. That pushed the total sales for the year of the silver bullion coin to over twenty-eight million (28,198,500) as it creeps closer to last year’s thirty million total. With production stopped for the 2021 coin, it is hard to see how it will reach the thirty million coin plateau this year.
The gold one ounce American Eagle also had a strong week in sales. The Mint report 21,500 of the coins were sold last week. That puts the total sales for the year of the gold one ounce Eagle at just over one million (1,067,500). Meanwhile, the 1/25th ounce and 1/10th ounce Eagles had sales of 2,000 and 5,000 coins respectively.
Turning to the American Buffalo gold coin, 5,500 were sold last week according to the Mint’s report.
