The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending January 2, 2022. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 13,461 numismatic products in the past week. This is down from the previous week’s report but that is unsurprising given this particular report covered the week from the Christmas holiday to New Year’s Day. As had been much of the case throughout 2021, the Mint’s annual sets dominated sales, occupying four of the top five selling items list. This, too, is not surprising given that the last new product released by the Mint was back in early November with the 2021 American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof Set.
The top selling product for last week was the 2021 Uncirculated Coin Set. The Mint reported 3,735 of the sets were sold in the week. That pushes the set’s total sales to just over the 190,000 sets sold mark (190,642). It was followed relatively closely in sales by the 2021 Proof Set. The standard Proof Set had a reported 2,249 sets sold last week. That put total sales for the annual set at 480,268. Rounding out to top three selling products for the Mint last week was the premium 2021 Silver Proof Set. The Mint reported that 1,779 of these sets were sold in the last week, which puts its total sales just shy of 274,000 (273,898).
It should be noted at all three of these top selling products remain available from the United States Mint on its website. Although they are 2021 minted items, the Mint will continue to sell what remaining inventory they have on any previous year items.
The fourth top selling product for the Mint last week was the 2021-S American Eagle Silver Proof (Type-2). 1,503 of the coins were sold in the previous week according to the Mint’s report, with total sales now at 198,191. Unlike the annual sets, this coin is now showing as unavailable on the Mint’s site.
Rounding out the top five selling products for the week of January 2, 2022 was the 2021 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set. A mere 663 of the sets were sold in the week with total sales at just 70,759.
