NGC and PMG Modify Schedule for FUN Show

Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) have announced a significantly modified schedule for this week’s Florida United Numismatists, or FUN Show, in Orlando this week. The changes impact both services the companies had planned to offer as well as scheduled guest appearances. The changes come with the continued rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 which is impacting Florida and the United States.

The FUN Show is still scheduled to take place January 6-9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

First, both companies will be offering expedited grading services instead of on-site grading services as planned.

NGC is offering expedited grading and encapsulation of US coins, and PMG is offering expedited grading and encapsulation of US and world paper money. Submissions must be received by 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 6 and will be returned by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8. Expedited grading offers a much faster turnaround time for submissions. Second, several guest appearances have now been cancelled.

  • Michael Gaudios, engraver of the Type-2 American Eagle Silver Reverse will not be appearing
  • NGC Chairman Mark Salzberg will not be appearing
  • PMG Grading Finalizer Chad Hawk will not be appearing

These last minute changes speak to the fluidity of many events, numismatic related and otherwise, over the past several weeks as this new variant of COVID-19 continues to spread. The NYINC convention in New York recently announced a change in venue due to the ongoing challenges.
