The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, February 13, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 538,500 bullion coins, with all products except the half-ounce gold American Eagle and one-ounce American Eagle Platinum coin registering sales to Authorized Purchasers. This sales total is nearly identical to the 539,000 that the Mint reported selling in last week’s report.
As is normally the case, the top selling bullion product for the United States Mint was the one-ounce silver American Eagle. According to the Mint’s report, 500,000 of the silver Eagles were sold to Authorized Purchasers last week. That puts its total sales so far in 2022 at 5.501 million coins. Meanwhile, the gold one-ounce American Eagle saw sales of 21,000 coins in the past week. Added into sales already registered this year, the gold one-ounce Eagle now has a sales total of 144,500.
Turning to the gold fractional American Eagle coins, as indicated above, there were no half-ounce Eagles reported sold in the past week. However, there were 2,000 1/25th-ounce coins sold and 10,000 1/10th-ounce coins sold in the report. Both of the smaller fractional Eagles have enjoyed strong sales thus far in 2022, far out pacing last year’s sales for the first two months of the year.
Finally, the American Buffalo one-ounce gold coin had a reported 5,500 coins sold in the last week. According to the Mint’s report, that would put total sales of the bullion Buffalo at 67,000 for the year.
