The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, February 20, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 502,500 bullion coins, with only one of the fractional gold American Eagles coins registering sales to Authorized Purchasers. This sales total is down slightly from the Mint’s reported selling in last week’s report.
The top seller once again this past week was the silver American Eagle. The one-ounce silver coin had a reported 480,500 coins sold to Authorized Purchasers last week. That puts its total sales at just shy of six million at 5.9815 million coins. Its gold counterpart, the one-ounce gold Eagle had 10,500 coins sold in the last week according to the Mint. That puts its sales total for the year at 155,000.
Of the fractional gold American Eagle coins, only the 1/10th-ounce had reported sales in the past week. The 1/2-ounce and 1/25th-ounce coins had no reported sales. For the 1/10th-ounce, 5,000 coins were sold in the past week according to the report. That puts its sales total for 2022 at 210,000 coins.
According to the Mint’s report, there were also no one-ounce platinum American Eagle coins sold in the past week to Authorized Purchasers. That should change in the next week or two as Authorized Purchasers like APMEX are now taking pre-orders for the platinum Eagle.
Turning to the American Buffalo one-ounce gold coin, the Mint reports that 6,500 of them were sold in the last week. That puts total sales for the year of the Buffalo at 73,500.
For 2022, the Mint has now sold 6.531 million bullion coins.
