The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, March 13, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 747,000 bullion coins. This is a significant increase over the 43,700 bullion coins that the Mint reported selling in last week’s report. All American Eagle products as well as the American Buffalo had reported sales in the past week.
Assuming its normal position as the number one selling bullion product, the one-ounce silver American Eagle had a reported 600,000 coins sold in the last week. That puts its total sales for the year at 7.101 million coins. This total is well below the record sales pace of the silver Eagle in 2021.
For the first time since early February, all of the gold American Eagle fractional coins had registered sales according to the Mint’s report. The one-ounce gold Eagle had 60,500 coin sales in the past week, topping sales for the gold bullion coin. The 1/2-ounce had 1,000 coins sold last week, while the 1/25th-ounce had 12,000 coin sales and the 1/10th-ounce had 45,000 in sales. Like the silver Eagle, the gold one-ounce and fractional coins are all below the pace of sales for 2021. Rounding out the American Eagle sales was the one-ounce platinum bullion coin. 6,500 of the coins were sold last week, putting total sales at 37,000. Sales for the platinum Eagle are nearly on par with sales from 2021 through to the first week of March.
Turning to the American Buffalo one-ounce gold coin, it had a strong sales with with 22,000 coins sold. Those sales pushed the total sales for the year to 117,000. This total, like that of the platinum Eagle, is on par with sales through the first week of March last year.
