The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, March 27, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 596,500 bullion coins. This is a down from the 747,000 that the Mint reported two weeks ago, the last time this report was updated. Like the bullion report from two weeks ago, the Mint reported that all bullion products were sold last week to Authorized Purchasers.
Assuming its normal top seller position was the silver one-ounce American Eagle bullion coin. The Mint reported that 480,500 of the coins were sold last week, putting its total sales at 7.5815 million for 2022. That is well behind the just over 10 million that were sold by this point last year. Meanwhile, the gold one-ounce Eagle enjoyed strong sales last week of 52,500 coins. That puts its total sales for the year at 331,000, just slightly ahead of the sales pace for this bullion coin last year.
Turning to the fractional gold American Eagles, the 1/2-ounce coin saw sales of 3,000 coins while the 1/25th-ounce and 1/10th-ounce had sales of 6,000 and 25,000 coins respectively. Further, the one-ounce platinum American Eagle had 3,000 coins reported sold last week.
Finally, the American Buffalo one-ounce gold coin had excellent sales last week. 26,500 of the coins were reported sold by the Mint during the week, putting its sales total at 143,500 for the year. This is ahead of its sales pace for last year by just over 20,000 coins.
