2022-W American Eagle Silver Proof Sales Begin April 14th

The United States Mint will open sales of the 2022-W American Eagle silver proof coin next week. Sales will being on April 14th at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific on the Mint’s site. This year, the one-ounce proof coin is priced at $73.00 and, as is usually the case, there is no mintage limit on the coin nor is their a household limit. However, it is expected there will be a very limited number available for purchase on release day.

The Mint announced earlier that all of the Enrollment Programs for the American Eagle were now sold out, meaning that a large percentage of coins available on release day have already been set aside for those in the 2022-W American Eagle program. Further, the Mint is no longer accepting enrollments for this or any of the other American Eagle programs for the rest of this year. The net result of this is that it is likely very few of the coins will be available on April 14th and it could take weeks before the Mint is able to get inventory available once more.

As for the coin itself, it will feature the Walking Liberty design of Adolph A. Weinman on the Obverse with the Type-2 Reverse introduced last year featuring an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest.

    • Um, not quite? The Mint only allocates so many of these for enrollments which anyone can join. They also limit the number that can be purchased in the Enrollment Program. While there are surely some dealers in there, the vast majority of these are people like you and me who signed up.

Additionally, the Mint made it clear weeks ago (and I posted it here) that these were going to sell out.
