The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, May 8, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 533,000 bullion coins. This is up significantly from the previous week’s report and includes updated sales totals for last week as well as the previous week (the last week in April). All bullion coins offered by the Mint had reported sales with the exception of the American Eagle platinum coin.
Leading sales for the Mint last week was the one-ounce silver American Eagle bullion coin with reported sales of 425,000 coins. That puts the total sales of the bullion version of the silver Eagle at 8.856 million for 2022. Meanwhile, its gold counterpart, the gold one-ounce American Eagle, had reported sales of 36,000 coins for the past week. That puts its total sales for the year at 466,500 coins.
Turning to the fractional gold American Eagles, all of them had reported sales in the past week. The 1/2-ounce Eagle had 1,000 coin sales while the 1/25th-ounce had 4,000 coins reported sold. The smallest fractional, the 1/10th-ounce, had reported sales of 50,000 coins.
Finally, the American Buffalo gold one-ounce bullion coin had reported sales of 17,000 in the past week. This puts its total sales just shy of two hundred thousand at 198,500.
