2022-W American Eagle Uncirculated Coin Sales Begin June 1st

The United States Mint will open sales of the 2022-W American Eagle Uncirculated coin next week. Sales will begin on June 1st at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific. A production limit of just 160,000 is in place for this Eagle with a household limit of three being available. However, it is likely that there will be few coins available on June 1st. This year, the coin is priced at $67.00. This is the same price as the 2021 Uncirculated Eagle, which had a higher production limit of 175,000.

The Mint announced several weeks ago that the Enrollment Program for the American Eagle Uncirculated coin, along with the other Eagle Proof coins, have sold out this year. This is the first time this has happened. What this means is that very few – if any – of these coins will be available at the start of sales as they have been accounted for by those who are enrolled in the program.

The obverse (heads) features a refreshed depiction of Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The United States Mint returned to its original historical assets to render a closer reflection of Weinman’s original vision that includes the addition of his traditional artist mark. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2022.”

The new reverse (tails) design features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”

For those who are not enrolled in the Enrollment Program for this coin, your best shot at getting one is to be on the Mint’s site before Noon Eastern on June 1st. Hopefully a few will be available but they will sell very quickly if that is the case.

If you are enrolled in the program, be sure to check your email for confirmation. The Mint sent those out last week. If your credit card is not up-to-date, you will be dropped out of the program
