The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic sales report for the seven-day period ending on Sunday, May 29, 2022. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 16,898 numismatic products last week. This is up slightly from the just over 13,000 products the Mint reported selling in last week’s report.
For 2022, the United States Mint has now sold 9,827,367 numismatic products to investors and collectors.
The top selling product for the United States Mint last week was the 2022 Proof Set. The annual set from the Mint registered sales of 4,034 sets, pushing total sales past the quarter-million mark (251,844). That sales total puts the 2022 set at about half of the 2021 Proof Set sales – which registered another 493 sets being sold this week. This year’s Proof Set was the only product to break the 1,000 unit is sales according to the Mint’s report.
The second top seller last week was the 2021 Silver Proof Set. The premium proof set registered sales of 801 sets according to the Mint’s report, putting total sales at 285,495.
The rest of the top ten selling products for the United States Mint were various Reverse Proof American Innovation Dollars from 2019 and 2020. As readers may recall, the Mint began offering a “Catch Up” discount to collectors to catch them up on all of the previously released American Innovation Dollar Proof and Reverse Proof sets and coins. It seemed to work based on the sales report from the Mint as readers can see below.
