The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, September 25, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. According to this week’s report, the United States Mint sold 472,500 bullion coins in the past week to Authorized Purchasers. According to the report, four of the seven bullion coins offered by the United States Mint to Authorized Purchasers had registered sales in the past week.
Topping sales and accounting for 86% of all sales in the past week was the one-ounce silver American Eagle. According to the Mint’s report, 408,000 of the coins were sold to Authorized Purchasers in the past week. This puts total sales of the silver Eagle at 13.239 million for 2022, a far cry from the over 25 million the Mint had sold by this time last year. The Mint’s lack of planchets has led to the steep drop in sales, which does not appear to be easing any time soon.
Of the rest of the American Eagle bullion products, only the one-ounce gold Eagle and 1/10th-ounce Eagle had reported sales in the past week. The one-ounce gold Eagle had reported sales of 27,500. That has raised its total sales for 2022 to 780,500 coins. This, too, is behind the sales pace of 2021 but not as significantly as the silver Eagle. Meanwhile, the 1/10th-ounce gold Eagle saw sales of 10,000 coins.
There were no reported sales of the 1/2-ounce gold, 1/25th-ounce gold, or one-ounce platinum Eagles this week.
Turning to the American Buffalo gold one-ounce coin, the Mint reported that 27,000 were sold in the past week to Authorized Purchasers. This puts total sales for the year at 360,000, ahead of the 259,000 the Mint had reported sold by this time in 2021.
For the year, the United States Mint has now sold 15,230,000 bullion coins to Authorized Purchasers.
