The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, November 27, 2022. It is the first time the Mint has updated the report in nearly a month. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. According to the report, the Mint sold 1,417,500 bullion coins to Authorized Purchasers. This is up significantly from the previous report. However, only three of the seven bullion coin products offered by the Mint to Authorized Purchasers had reported sales.
As is normally the case, the one-ounce silver American Eagle was the top selling bullion coin for the Mint last week. According to the report, the Mint sold 1,407,000 of the coins, putting total sales for the year at 15,904.500. As discussed in previous bullion sales reports, this total sales figure is significantly less than the total sales through the end of November in 2021. This is largely due to the lack of planchets available for bullion coin production.
Of the gold American Eagle bullion coins, only the one-ounce Eagle had reported sales. The Mint indicates that 6,000 of the gold Eagles were sold to Authorized Purchasers last week, putting total sales at 846,000 for 2022. None of the other fractional gold Eagles, nor the one-ounce platinum Eagle, had reported sales last week.
Turning to the one-ounce American Buffalo, it remains a bullion coin sales bright spot for the Mint. 4,500 of the coins were sold last week according to the Mint’s report, putting total sales at 410,000 for 2022. This figure is significantly higher than the 300,500 that had been sold through November 2021.
