United States Mint Numismatic Product Sales Report – January 8, 2023

The United States Mint has released its weekly Numismatic Product Sales Report for the seven-day period ending Sunday, January 8, 2023. The report covers numismatic product sales, such as commemorative coins and annual sets, by the Mint. It is separate from the bullion sales report. According to this week’s report, the Mint sold 5,382 numismatic products to investors and collectors in the past week.  This is roughly half of the sales reported in the previous week. The lackluster sales are not surprising and fit the general pattern of the Mint’s sales the first week of each new year. In 2023, this is likely to be more so given that the Mint is not releasing its first product for this year until the end of the month.

In looking at the top ten selling numismatic products for the Mint last week, eight of them were released in 2022, and annual product releases continued to dominate sales. That said, the top selling product was the uncirculated 2022-W American Eagle. The silver, one-ounce coin had reported sales of 826 units. It is the second week in a row that this particular Eagle has been the top seller for the Mint. The second top seller was the 2022 Uncirculated Coin set (696) while the 2022 Silver Proof Set rounded out the top three with 580 sets sold.

Here is a breakdown of the top ten selling products for the Mint last week.
