The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, January 22, 2023. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. The Mint reported 464,500 bullion coin sales to Authorized Purchasers last week. Only two of the six American Eagle products had no reported sales in the past week.
The one-ounce silver American Eagle topped sales, accounting for 97% of all bullion sales. The Mint reported that 450,000 silver Eagles were sold last week, pushing total sales for 2023 to 3.949 million coins. The one-ounce gold American Eagle slotted in as the second best seller with 11,000 coins sold. That puts its total sales for this year at 101,000. Rounding out American Eagle sales was the 1/2-ounce gold Eagle with 1,000 coins reported sold and the 1/25th-ounce Eagle with 2,000 coins sold.
There were no 1/10th-ounce gold Eagles reported sold last week in the Mint’s reporting, nor any of the one-ounce platinum Eagles which has not entered into production.
Turning to the one-ounce American Buffalo gold bullion coins, the Mint reported that 500 were sold last week. That puts total sales for the year at 44,500.
