The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, April 16, 2023. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. The Mint reported 92,000 bullion coin sales in the past week. Sales were sporadic across the American Eagle products, with only two of six products having registered sales.
For the previous week, the top-selling bullion product was the one-ounce gold American Eagle, with 56,500 coins sold. With those sales, the Mint has sold 445,000 one-ounce gold Eagles to Authorized Purchasers for the year. Year-over-year, this is slightly higher than the 430,000 the Mint had sold through this week last year. The only other American Eagle product with reported sales last week was the 1/10th-ounce gold Eagle with 10,000 coins sold. For the year, the Mint reports that 240,000 of the smallest fractional Eagle have been sold. That is less than this point in 2022, where sales totals were at 320,000.
No other American Eagle products had reports sales for last week.
The American Buffalo continued its strong sales, with another 25,500 one-ounce gold coins sold in the past week. That puts its sales total for 2023 at 186,500 coins, ahead of its sales total of 182,000 this time last year.
