The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, April 23, 2023. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. The Mint reported 526,500 bullion coin sales in the past week. Of the seven bullion coins available for purchase by Authorized Purchasers, five saw sales activity in the last week.
Last week’s top-selling bullion product for the United States Mint was the one-ounce silver American Eagle, with 450,000 coins sold. This pushes its total sales for 2023 to 6.649 million, still down significantly from the 8.431 million that had been sold through this week in 2022. The one-ounce gold American Eagle followed this with 47,500 reported sales. Considering these sales, the total sales of the one-ounce gold Eagle sits at 492,500 for the year, up from 430,500 through this point last year. Two of the three fractional gold Eagles had sales last week according to the Mint’s report. The 1/25th-ounce Eagle with 2,000 coins sold, and the 1/10th-ounce Eagle with 5,000.
There were no reported sales of the 1/2-ounce gold American Eagle, nor the one-ounce platinum Eagle.
According to the Mint’s report, the American Buffalo one-ounce gold bullion coin had 22,000 coins sold in the last week. That puts total sales for 2023 at 208,500. This is up considerably from the 182,000 that had been sold by this point last year.
