The United States Mint has released its weekly Numismatic Product Sales Report for the seven days ending July 16, 2023. The report covers numismatic product sales by the Mint, such as commemorative coins and annual sets. It is separate from the bullion sales report. According to this week’s report, the Mint had impressive sales of 521,400 products, with the majority of those sales coming from the Mint’s release of two highly anticipated products: The 2023 Morgan and the 2023 Peace Dollars.
The latest two releases from the United States Mint were the top two selling products for last week, with the 2023 Morgan Uncirculated Dollar and the 2023 Peace Uncirculated Dollar topping 255,000 in sales. This was followed, at some distance, by the 2023 Proof Set with 5,730 sets sold in the week. Indeed, in looking at the top ten selling products for the Mint last week, nine of the top ten products were 2023 releases, with the 2022 American Liberty Silver Medal being the one exception.
It is not uncommon for new releases to break into the top ten, but the strong sales of the Morgan and Peace Dollars were expected. The two coins, first released back in 2021 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the move away from the Morgan to the Peace Dollar, these two coins have been targeted all year as likely the best-selling product for the Mint. Sales did not disappoint.
The United States Mint’s sales figures are public records and are available weekly. They start from the previous Sunday through to the next seven days. You can find the report each week at this link.
