The United States Mint will open sales of the 2023 High Relief Gold American Liberty coin starting next week. The one-ounce 24-Karat coin will be available starting at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific on August 10th. Production is limited to 12,500 coins and there is a household limit of 3 coins. At the time of this article, the Mint has not released final pricing for the coin.
The Obverse design features a bristlecone pine, considered one of Earth’s oldest living organisms, and able to live up to 5,000 years. The tree grows where other plants cannot and are often the first to grow in the land after dramatic changes. It was created by U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program Designer Elana Hagler and sculpted by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna.
The Reverse of the coin and medal features a bald eagle standing on a rocky outcrop.
The high-relief gold coin will be minted at West Point and carry the W Mint Mark.
For those who want to add this stunning coin to their collection, you will need to be on the Mint’s site before Noon Eastern on August 10th. There is no subscription program available for the American Liberty coins. Be sure to arrive early to get into the waiting room for your chance to purchase.
Finally, if the high relief gold American Liberty coin is out of financial reach, the silver American Liberty medal will be available the same day at a far lower cost.
