The United States Mint will begin selling the 2024 American Eagle Palladium Proof later this week. Sales will begin at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific on Thursday, September 5, 2024. There will be just 7,500 of these premium precious metal coins produced, with a household limit of ten coins, and they are expected to have high sales initially, although a sell-out is hard to predict. In previous years, the American Eagle Palladium coin has remained available for upwards of a year after its initial release.
Pricing for the coin has not been released yet.
The Obverse of the coin features the Winged Liberty Head (or Mercury) Dime design of Adolph A. Weinman, albeit in high relief. The Reverse features a high-relief version of the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal. Weinman also designed it. Those two designs have been some of the most popular in the history of the United States Mint, adding to the coin’s popularity.
The American Eagle Palladium coin is expected to sell well despite the premium price. With a low production figure, half of what it has been in years past, it is unlikely it will take long for demand to outstrip supply. If you want to add this stunning coin to your collection, it is advised to be on the Mint’s site before 9:00 AM Pacific on Thursday for your best chance of purchasing it.
