The United States Mint has released the official images of the upcoming 2025 Native American Dollar. This year, the Native American Dollar honors Hawai’i’s Mary Kawena Pukui. The 2025 Native American Dollar will be available in bags, rolls, and boxes on January 28, 2025. Quantities are limited, and readers who wish to add this coin to their collection are encouraged to sign up for the Subscription Program to ensure you get it.
Mary Abigail Kawenaʻulaokalaniahiʻiakaikapoliopele Naleilehuaapele Wiggin Pukui (20 April 1895 – 21 May 1986), known as Kawena, was a Hawaiian scholar, author, composer, hula expert, and educator. She was named a “Living Treasure of Hawaiʻi” by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaiʻi in 1977. In 1995, she was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. The 2025 Native American Dollar’s reverse was designed by United States Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill. It depicts Mary Kawena Pukui wearing a hibiscus flower, a kukui nut lei, and mu’umu’u dress.
