United States Mint Circulating Coinage Production Report – March 2025

The United States Mint has released its Circulating Coin Production Report for March 2025. The report shows that the United States Mint produced 670.72 million coins in March. While the production total is up from production in February, the overall trend of production continues to go lower when compared to previous years.

Despite calls from the Trump administration to eliminate the Lincoln Cent, modest production continued in March 2025. 328 million Cents were minted in the month. 168 million were minted in Denver, and the remaining 160 million were minted in Philadelphia. It is a slight decrease month-over-month compared to the 353 million minted in February. The Mint has produced just 923.4 million Lincoln Cents for circulation for the year.

74.92 million Jefferson Nickels were reported minted by the Mint in March 2025. It is a slight increase of nearly 800,000 coins compared to February. Breaking down the production, the Mint reports 40.32 million Nickels were minted in Denver and 34.6 million in Philadelphia. So far in 2025, the Mint has minted 231.16 million Nickels. Meanwhile, the Roosevelt Dime saw a total production of 97.5 million Dimes in the month. According to the Mint’s report, 73.5 million were minted in Denver and the remaining 24 million in Philadelphia. For the year, the Mint has now minted 338.5 million Dimes.

Turning to the Washington Quarter, the Mint reports that 166.2 million Quarters were minted in March 2025. Production was nearly equal across the Denver and Philadelphia Mints, with Denver minting 86.2 million and Philadelphia 80 million. Total production for 2025 now stands at 374.25 million Quarters. The Mint’s circulation production report does not break down the type of Quarters it produced, as there will be five different designs as part of the American Women Quarter Program this year, two of which have been released so far this year.

Rounding out the report, the Mint produced 2.7 million Kennedy Half Dollars, all in Philadelphia, while also minting 1.4 million Native American Dollars. For the Native American Dollars, the Denver and Philadelphia Mints minted 700,000 coins each.

Considering the March 2025 figures, the Mint has now minted 1,885,890 coins in 2025. Compared to production through March of last year, it is slightly up. By this point last year, the Mint had produced 1,733,540,000 coins.
