The Uncirculated 2019-W $50 Gold American Eagle coin is set to go on sale today. The 22-karat bullion coin is priced at $1,640 and can be purchased directly from the United States Mint. Orders will start being accepted at Noon Eastern Time, 9:00 am Pacific. There is a limit of one per household.
The collector coin is minted at the West Point facility of the US Mint and features the classic Augustus Saint-Gaudens full-length Liberty with flowing hair on the Obverse. The Reverse features an eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a female eagle and eaglets. Design wise, it is the same it has been since its introduction.
The $50 gold coin has a composition of 91.67% Gold, 3.0% Silver, Balance Copper and weighs just over 1 ounce.
Production of the coin will be limited to 10,000 which should provide plenty of opportunity for collectors to buy them. The 2018 $50 American Eagle is still available on the Mint’s site. The 2018 coin now has no household limit as the Mint is trying to deplete the remaining 1,702 in stock. It is expected that the 2019 American Eagle will remain available for some time, meaning that there is no need to necessarily rush to the Mint’s site today.
