The United States Mint has released its weekly sales report for the 7-day period ending April 19, 2020. It is the second consecutive week the Mint has released the report, giving a glimmer of hope that the weekly report is back for good.
The top story coming out of the report is the strong sales of the 2020 Silver Proof Set. The set went on sale last week and is packaged with the 2020-W Jefferson Nickel in Reverse Proof. In total, 183,456 of the sets were sold in the week, nearly depleting the initial 190,960 available sets. The total number of the sets has been initially limited due to the Mint having to slow or stop production to Numismatic products as it deals with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Keeping with the Proof Set theme, the 2020 Proof Set, coming with the 2020-W Jefferson Nickel in Proof, came in second in this week’s report. A total of 8,538 of the sets were sold, bringing the total sales to 236,351. In third was the 2020-W American Eagle Silver Proof which sold 2,718 units this week. That pushes its total sales for the year to 270,097. Of interesting note are the various America the Beautiful Quarter sets for this year. The Silver Proof Set, Proof Set, and Uncirculated Set were all in the top 10 this week.
