CCAC Meeting Set for June 23rd

The next Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) meeting has been scheduled with a large list of topics to be discussed. The meeting will take place on June 23rd starting at 9:00 AM Eastern and will go through until 4:00 PM Eastern. Due to the continuing concerns around COVID-19, the meeting will take place via telephone conference and not be an in-person meeting.

The agenda for the June 23rd meeting is packed, with the following items slated to be discussed:

  • Review and discussion of candidate designs for the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Silver Dollar Commemorative Coin
  • Review and discussion of new reverse designs for the American Eagle Gold and American Eagle Silver Coins
  • Review and discussion of candidate designs for the Larry Doby Congressional Gold Medal
  • Review and discussion of the 2021 United States Marine Corps Silver Medal
  • Review and discussion of the Secretary Mnuchin Secretary of the Treasury Medal
  • Review and discussion of the President Trump Presidential Medal.

In accordance with 31 U.S.C. 5135, the CCAC:

  1. Advises the Secretary of the Treasury on any theme or design proposals relating to circulating coinage, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals, and national and other medals.
  2. Advises the Secretary of the Treasury with regards to the events, persons, or places to be commemorated by the issuance of commemorative coins in each of the five calendar years succeeding the year in which a commemorative coin designation is made.
  3. Makes recommendations with respect to the mintage level for any commemorative coin recommended.

The CCAC was established in 2003 by Congress under Public Law 108-15.
