The United States Mint has published its weekly sales report for the week ending January 7, 2021. The sales report was dominated by several new products for 2021 as well as new releases from the Mint in the previous week. Overall, the Mint sold 63,964 products for the week ending January 7, 2021.
The top selling product was the South Carolina American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof. In its first week of availability, an impressive 27,339 of the coins were sold, more than half of the 50,000 total coins available. It dominated sales, accounting for 42.7% of all of the Mint product sales for the week.
The second top seller was the latest Presidential Silver Medal for Martin Van Buren. The new medal had a strong start with 9,701 sold in its first week of availability. It is the strongest start for any medal in the series since the original medal for George Washington was released in 2018.
Another new product from the Mint, the 2021 American Eagle Platinum – 1st Amendment – Freedom of Religion coin rounded out the top three selling products. 4,961 of the 15,000 coins were sold in its first week.
The Christa McAuliffe and National Law Enforcement commemorative products continued to sell well in their second week of availability. The McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar was the fourth best seller for the week while the Uncirculated variant was the eighth top seller. Meanwhile the Law Enforcement Memorial Proof Silver Dollar and Proof Clad Half Dollar were the fifth and sixth best sellers for the week.
