The United States Mint has updated its daily bullions sales report through the beginning of February 22, 2021. The Mint in the past week sold another 71,500 bullion coins, pushing the total sales to just shy of 8 million for the year. As previously reported, this far outpaces the already outstanding year of 2020 for the Mint with sales likely not to diminish any time soon.
For the American Eagle silver bullion coin, 680,000 of the coins were sold for the week. That puts the total sales of the silver coin at 7.576 million for 2021. Sales of this coin are already 2.2 million coins higher than the total sales for February 2020 with another week in the month remaining.
The American Eagle gold one ounce bullion coin also enjoyed strong sales this week with another 17,000 coins sold. That puts its total sales for the year at 309,500, nearly 50% of the entire year of sales in 2020. The Mint did not report any fractional American Eagle gold coins sold in the past week.
Rounding out the bullion sales report is the American Buffalo gold coin. 4,500 of these were sold to Authorized Purchasers last week. That puts its total sales for 2021 at 77,500.
