The American Numismatic Society (ANS) has released the second episode of the second season of its outstanding podcast, The Planchet. This particular episode is focused on the Society itself and how it coped and functioned as the COVID pandemic became all-to-real and effectively shut down on-site operations. Indeed, this episode is the first that the Society has been able to record in person.
Season 2, Episode 2 does something never before attempted in exactly one year of the Planchet: it was recorded live and in-person in New York. Host Andrew Reinhard conducted brief interviews with seven ANS staff members to learn what it was like working from home as a curator, photographer, or librarian, how it felt coming back to the office for the first time after months away, and what current projects are underway as things approach a sense of “normal.” Each interview was conducted safely with masks at a physical distance of six feet.

This latest episode is a quick listen at 31 minutes long and provides some interesting insights as to how the ANS managed to keep things ticking during the COVID pandemic and lockdown.
Currently, the ANS produces an up-to one-hour long podcast each month. There will also be occasional special episodes focused on ANS news and information.
