United States Mint Sales Report – May 2, 2021

The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending May 2, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that Mint sold 19,664 numismatic products last week, the majority of which were products released this year.

The top selling product for the United States Mint was the 2021 Proof Set. 8,452 sets were sold last week to collectors and dealers, pushing its total sales for the year to 256,085. In a distant second was the 2021-W American Eagle Silver Proof (Type-1 Reverse). 2,319 of the proof coins were sold in the previous week, putting its total sales at 299,564. With a production limit of 327,440 for the coin, there is still an opportunity for collectors to add the coin to their collection before the new Type-2 Reverse is introduced this summer.

Making a surprising appearance on the top ten selling products list was the 2020 American Eagle Platinum Proof one ounce coin. 1,124 of the platinum coins were sold last week, putting the total sales of the coin just shy of ten thousand at 9,566.
