The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending August 15, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold an impressive 596,003 products last week, virtually all of which have been released in the past two weeks. Further, all of the products that were in the top ten sales positions are 2021 releases.
For the year, the United States Mint has now sold 9,743,815 numismatic products.
Taking the top seller position was the 2021 (P) Peace Dollar. Released last week with only 200,000 available, the Mint reported sales of 199,989 coins sold. The Mint’s website currently shows the product as unavailable which means that in all likelihood, the entire production was sold in the pre-sales last week. The Mint is likely doing reconciliation on the backend to make sure sales are accurate.
Closely behind the Peace Dollar was the 2021-S American Eagle Silver Proof (Type-2) coin. Released last week, 184,610 of the proof coins were sold in the same week. That puts its total sales at 198,596 which again, is right at the 200,000 production limit for the coin.
The third top seller was another new release last week, the 2021 (P) Morgan Dollar, the last of the Morgan’s to be released this year. A total of 174,997 of the 175,000 coins were reported sold by the Mint last week. Like the Peace Dollar and the 2021-S American Eagle, the Mint shows this coin as being unavailable on its site. Meanwhile, the 2021-W American Eagle Silver Proof (Type-2) had another strong week in sales. 22,048 of the proof coins were purchases last week, putting sales totals at 321,891 for the year.
Rounding out the top five selling products was the 2021 Proof Set. The annual set, which has had strong and consistent sales since its release early this year, added another 3,289 sets to its sales total. That sales total is now at 333,456.

Got the Morgan and Peace issues last week with virtually no trouble a couple of minutes after they went on sale. So not all were pre-sold or grabbed by bots at the start. The Mint has definitely improved its act.
I had no trouble picking up the Peace (only one I was interested in…. Unpopular opinion: I’m not a huge fan of Morgan’s). The mint certainly is improving things!
