The following is a Press Release from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) announcing that it will be offering special labels and designations for the 2021-W American Liberty High Relief gold coin. These are in addition to the special signature labels for the coin that were announced last week.
On August 19, the US Mint will release the 2021-W American Liberty High Relief Gold Proof Coin, continuing the annual tradition of celebrating freedom with this limited mintage program. The one-ounce fine gold coin is struck at the West Point Mint and features new obverse and reverse designs.
For these coins, Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) is offering the distinctive NGC American Liberty Flag label by default for no additional fee. Coins received by NGC within the first 30 days of release are eligible for NGC’s popular Early Releases and First Releases designations and labels. Learn more about Early Releases and First Releases here. For Early Releases / First Releases cutoff dates, click here.
The obverse of the 2021-W American Liberty Gold Coin depicts a bucking bronco casting off the saddle of British rule with the sun rising in a new era of American Independence. The design was conceptualized and executed by Beth Zaiken, an artist in the Artistic Infusion Program (AIP), and sculpted by metallic artist Craig Campbell. Zaiken signs certification labels exclusively for NGC, and 2021-W American Liberty coins encapsulated with the NGC Beth Zaiken Signature Label will be available through select retailers. Learn more about Zaiken here.
The coin’s reverse features a close-up profile of a bald eagle, designed by Richard Masters and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.
