The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, August 29, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 812,500 products to Authorized Purchasers last week, down slight week-over-week from last week.
As is normally the case each week, the silver American Eagle bullion coin was the top seller this past week. 775,000 of the one-ounce silver coins were sold to Authorized Purchasers in the week, pushing total sales for the year to 22,190,500 coins. As indicated over the past few bullion sales reports, the American Eagle is well on pace to top its record 30 million coins sold last year.
The American Eagle’s gold one ounce counterpart also had strong sales this past week. 17,000 of the one-ounce gold coins were purchased, putting the total sales for 2021 at 734,500. Meanwhile, there were another 6,000 of the 1/25th ounce fractional American Eagle sold as well as 10,000 of the 1/10th ounce variant. Indeed the only American Eagle bullion product that did not register sales was the 1/2 ounce gold American Eagle and the one-ounce Platinum Eagle.
Turning to the American Buffalo one-ounce gold coin, it too had reasonable sales this past week. 4,500 of the coins were sold to Authorized Purchasers, putting its sales total now at 231,000 for the year.
