2021 American Eagle Silver Reverse Proof Two-Coin Set Designer Edition Sales Begin Today

After being delayed last month, the final American Eagle product for 2021 is set to be released today and it could be one of the highest demand products of the year for the United States Mint. The 2021 American Eagle Silver Reverse Proof Two-Coin Set Designer Edition will go on sale at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific today, with just 125,000 sets being available. Priced at $175, the set is expected to sell out within minutes given its unique nature.

The two-coin American Eagle Silver Reverse Proof set features a 2021-S American Eagle with the original (Type-1) Reverse that has been on the coin since its initial release in 1986. The second coin is a 2021-W American Eagle with the new (Type-2) Reverse that was introduced this year. Both coins come in a stunning Reverse Proof finish.

The United States Mint first listed this two-coin set back in March. At the time, I speculated that the set would likely consist of a Type-1 and a Type-2 American Eagle and would be priced around $200. With the bullion challenges that the Mint has faced this year, it is good to see that this one is actually going to happen and was not abandoned.

As mentioned, the two-coin set has a limited production of 125,000. When sales start, there is a household limit of one set. It is expected that these sets will sell out within minutes upon release. For those who want to try to get one to add to their collection, be on the Mint’s site at Noon Eastern, signed into your account, and credit card handy just in case you need it. And as one collector to another, good luck Numipeeps!

    • I’m actually surprised by this one. I didn’t expect these to last long at all. I literally just ordered it at 12:20 PM Mountain and have received confirmation of my order. I do know that MANY encountered site issues so I can only assume some gave up? I frankly wasn’t going to bother but with them being available, why not?

  1. It took the webpage 1 hour and 15 minutes to process my order. I received 3 warnings of an anti-bot measure incorrectly in my case. I guess that the coins lasted longer available because of the anti-bot measures deployed by the US Mint.

  2. After many, many attempts to complete my purchase, I was finally able to receive an order confirmation after 1 hour and 10 minutes! I was able to place a set in my cart fairly quickly, but the site kept crashing every time I attempted to complete the purchase process. So frustrating and such a waste of time. Will the US Mint ever get their act together when it comes to online sales?

  3. Mezack was selling these sets with a RP70 grade last night for $1300. Wonder what he paid his shills to get enough of these 1 per household coins?
